Keyword Research & Strategy
The terms your customers actually type, sorted by what you can realistically win, and mapped to the page that should own each one.
What usually goes wrong
Keyword lists are easy to produce and mostly useless. The hard part is deciding which terms you can realistically win, and then making sure exactly one page is trying to win each of them.
You would notice
- You rank on page two for a lot of things and page one for nothing
- Two of your own pages swap positions for the same term
- The terms you target are the ones your industry uses, not your customers
- Nobody can say which page is supposed to own which search
The work
Keyword Research & Strategy, line by line.
Each line is work that gets done and can be checked afterwards. None of it is a promise about where you will rank — nobody can honestly make that one.
- 01The terms your customers use, not the ones the industry uses
- 02Volume weighed against how hard each one is to win
- 03Intent sorted, so commercial pages stop chasing informational terms
- 04One page assigned per term, so your own pages stop competing
- 05A map of what exists, what to write, and what to merge
In practice
One term, one page
Illustrative example. The real map covers every commercial term and names the owner page for each.
Questions
Asked often enough to answer here.
How many keywords should I target?
Fewer than you think. A small site winning ten terms outperforms one ranking nowhere for two hundred.
Do you use search volume as the main filter?
No. Volume without intent sends you traffic that never buys. Difficulty against your current authority matters more than either.
What if the best term is impossible for me?
Then we say so and find the version of it you can win. Chasing a term three years out of reach is the most expensive mistake in SEO.
